The Coquettish Breeze!

31 – 08 – 2007

How very like a wanton beauty,
The breeze does dally around!
Flirting, caressing, brushing:
See how she toys with Ground!

Arid land:

Touches she there the Desert old.
In quiescence, breathing hopes.
And so does start their love affair,
When Sand, with Storm, elopes!

Alas! Youth is too fickle
To be held by archaic hands.
Forsook love turns tears thus,
Tracing Oasis over all sands.

Plains:

The brisk, lively, juvenile Plain;
Gets a kiss from Flirting Queen.
Look! His River-soul ripples so!
Blushes he the deepest green.

For fickle, callow lovers but,
Magic o’ Love wears off soon.
She maunders on, seeking romance,
Leaving him lamenting in Monsoon.

Woodland:

To woo the solemn, handsome Woods,
The wind does whistle and sing.
Lo! Falls he for the flattering gale,
Blooms all Forest in spring.

When do promiscuous nymphs but,
Practice constancy for years?
Denying proposal, departs she:
He, in vain, sheds Autumn-tears.

Slough:

Zephyr, trying to win over
The coarse uncouth Bog,
Adorns her charming silken cloak:
Fashions She the silvern Fog!

Adoring and admiring her,
In love he tries to bind.
But how can affection bind them
who are born free in mind?

Highland:

Do you hear those amorous tones?
Foehn is coquetting with Mounts!
Cultured, refined and eloquent.
Oh! How she dotes over Counts!

Serene and calm Mountains but,
Have avowed their love for Snow.
Unable to melt the perpetual rime,
Resigns She: parting with a bow.

Moon:

The roving Gust beholds then
That majestic Prince of Night.
And look! Like one enchanted,
Pursues She Moon till first light!

Charmed, bedazzled by his sheen,
Proposes she every night anew!
Declines he, for Sea he loves:
Pours her anguish as morning dew!
