First day: Sergeant speaks!
God dam! Ye bunch of sissy ladies.
Do come out of your nappy, babies!
Aren’t ye men? Ye should be bolder!
C’mon, be fast, be erect soldier.
Now listen up. I won’t again mention!
These are the rules. Pay attention!
When I say understand, “YES SIR!” shall ye chant!
And don’t ye dare speak up, if gather it ye can’t!
“UNDERSTAND!” “Yes sir!” “Louder! Ye bunch ‘o jackass!”
“UNDERSTAND!” “YES SIR!” “That’s better, ye sissy lass!”
Stand tall when ye be addressed.
And ye shall be properly dressed.
By God! If I see one slump, one crease!
Thence ye won’t be able to say ‘please’!
Ye have got to carry out every order.
God dam! It saves yer life at border!
Officers are to be cordially respected.
Crisp salute and attention is expected!
Now don’t gawk at me ye ferrets!
At ease now! Head to yer barracks!
First Drill: Lieutenant’s talk!
Left – left, left – right – left! Left – left, left – right – left!
Ye dander-legs! Yer march ought to be crisp and deft.
How are ye soldiers going to fight?
If ye can’t even do a simple drill right!
Why, I never see ye practice yer drill!
Without it, lose yer step, ye surely will.
We have got to win this time as well,
Ye have to drill in heat, rain: even hell!
March with the beats then, O regiment!
Show ‘em judges ye are a proper gent!
Let yer feet come down together,
Let yer hands flow freely as feather!
Raise yer bayonets and muskets high,
Evoke in damsels that craving sigh!
Proudly sing songs and wave yer brands,
For ye be braver than any in the stands!
First Kill: Captain’s tease!
Hey there guard! What was that sound?
Did anyone shoot ye? Whom did ye round?
Ah! But see, here lays the man! Dead!
Ha! Ye got the enemy straight in the head!
Its so very dark guard! Good ye didn’t miss!
But! Why are ye then retching so? What’s amiss?
Ah! Now I get it! Yer first one, eh?
Ye poor wretched soldier! Heh, Heh!
C’mon now dear guard, man aren’t ye?
Ye showed grit and courage here, I must say!
Oh! We all get them butterflies in the act,
But duty demands killing to save lives in-fact!
First War: Major’s Address!
It has been declared. We are at war, Gentlemen!
Come, its time for us to show our grit! To be men!
Enemy forces are amassing yon, not far.
Soon we’ll have to bear the brunt of war!
Company! Be prepared to face a forceful rush,
To stop their first wave: to stem their gush.
Don’t lose faith! And hold this fort.
Sea comes crashing: ever yields port?
Evoke yer anger, and drown yer fears,
Harden that soul then and drink all tears!
It’s very likely though that we may fall,
Yet we’ll fight, for we’re men - proud and tall!
My brothers! Hold fast to yer planned posts,
Enemy is strong, yet we won’t be yielding hosts!
First Charge: Colonel instigates!
Ye have stemmed their flow boys! Well done!
But in that attack we lost our loved one.
The major, my son, is no more: ‘tis bad.
Such loss is a setback, but we can’t be sad!
Yes, there's no time: we have to rout our enemy still,
It’s possible! Now that ye have broken their will.
It has been planned that we shall now attack.
Engaging small brigades, pushing them back.
Charging through the night, yet withholding pursuit,
Attacking first with cannons, then tanks following suit.
Inch by inch we’ll move: our land reclaimed!
Man by man they’ll lose: all killed or maimed!
So charge now, ye soldiers of the first brigade!
Lunge fiercely, but always in our guns’ shade!
Move now O warriors! Show them what ye are.
Let them taste our ire, bare to them our power!
First Medal: General’s Kudos!
Ladies and Gentlemen: soldiers and civilians!
We have won! At last we have routed the villains!
It is but due to the sacrifice of our brothers,
That our lands don’t lie in hands of others!
Our neighbours have proved themselves to be sick!
Waving ‘white flag’, yet conjuring the vilest trick!
But we proved we are not of yielding kind,
We bear naught any stabbing from behind!
That though inherently we do love,
Yet we be ‘Hawks’ but: not a ‘Dove’!
Today, we honour a soldier brave,
Who but lies in his silent grave,
Sleeping eternally, oblivious to pain.
He, from this war had nothing to gain,
Yet he fought for our freedom,
And laid life to secure our home!
Accolades to ye O great soldier!
None in the stands can claim he is bolder!
I call forth now his beloved wife, mother and son,
To receive posthumously his coveted Medallion!
